Until the mid-twentieth century the first three strings of the guitar were made almost exclusively of gut, a material of millenary use characterized by an excellent readiness of attack combined with a particularly brilliant timbre rendering: therefore substantially different from that of Nylon ® . The timbre of the gut has always been a constant point of reference for luthiers, composers and performers until the recent past. The development of a new synthetic product – both as a monofilament and as a multifilament for the basses – which had the same acoustic characteristics as the gut – but not the typical defects – such as high cost, poor duration and high exchange instability climate has therefore always been a fundamental point of our research work. TheNylgut® finally represents the point of arrival allowing the rediscovery of the sounds that were familiar to the great masters of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as presenting excellent intonation stability, superior to that of the best Nylon ® strings .
Set in three degrees of tension (Light, Normal, Superior) whose first three strings are made of monofilament of ‘synthetic gut’ Nylgut® , perfectly round and smooth that allows readiness of attack, acoustic projection, tonal qualities such as to remember the gut , as well as presenting a decidedly extraordinary intonation stability. These properties therefore allow an optimal sound ‘connection’ with the bass yarns. These consist of a Nylgut® multifilament core spun in silver-plated copper which is characterized by high tensile strength and great stability to climatic changes allowing a fast and stable intonation, excellent acoustic performance and long life on the part of the strings.
Attention:
Like gut, Nylgut® is a shear sensitive material. Before mounting the strings make sure that the grooves at the nut and at the bridge are shallow, perfectly smooth and free from sharp corners. If not, use 600-grit emery cloth or fine-grained steel wool.
